It is common knowledge that Ike Turner often beat wife Tina Turner on several occasions something that the movie, "What's Love Got To Do It", thankfully doesn't shy away from.

Unsurprisingly, Ike Turner wasn't happy with what was depicted on screen and spoke out several times about how the movie portrayed him. In fact, during a very odd press conference, Turner tried to redeem himself by strangely admitting that he had indeed hit her but only once and the other times he had hit her (so he did hit her more than once) were just slaps.

Even more bizarrely, Ike then stated that he only got mad when she was depressed or sad, stating:

"Me and Tina never fought about other women or about her not keeping house or her not taking care of the kids. It was always because she was looking sad and wouldn't tell me what was wrong with her. She would take that attitude with her on to the stage and that would really depress me. So after the show, I'd end up slapping her or something. But then we'd be okay."
