11 Scariest Final Shots In Thriller Movie History

8. The Gift

The Gift is low-key one of the best modern thrillers you can find, and it has a killer twist so, if you haven't seen it, go rectify that and then come back.

If you have seen it or just don't care, The Gift is about a seemingly happily married couple, Simon and Robyn, whose lives are thrown into disarray when an old school acquaintance of Simon's, Gordo, shows up and starts interfering with their lives.

Initially it seems like a straightforward hero and villain tale, but it's revealed that Simon was actually a huge dick in school, and made up a story about Gordo being molested, which got him intensely bullied and almost killed by his father.

To get revenge all these years later, Gordo torments Simon by leaving a bunch of horrifying "gifts" and wrecking his life via manipulation.

The end scene sees Robyn giving birth, and Gordo revealing his final gift to Simon: a video of him apparently assaulting his wife months prior.

The implication is that the baby is his, but even the assault might be a total fabrication as it's only implied off camera, being yet another trick to destroy Simon's mental state by having him forever wondering if the baby is his, and if the woman he loves was a victim of Gordo's actions.

The final sequence shows Gordo hanging up on Simon, before leaving the frame, never to be caught.
