11 Songs That Were Far Better Than The Movies They Were Made For
9. Kiss From A Rose - Batman Forever
Is there a two hit wonder who is more loved than Seal? His breakout first hit, Crazy, was a chart topper in 1990 and made him a household name around the world.
This hit put him front and centre for singing the lead song on the soundtrack for the highly anticipated Batman Forever, and yes it was once a highly anticipated film. Kiss from a Rose may not have quite hit the same powerful high notes that we’d heard before from the man better known as Heidi Klum’s husband, but the tune proved to be a big hit for Seal and great advertising fodder for the film. The chorus was both smooth and catchy with Seal hitting the high notes to really get the nerves tingling.
Sadly, Joel Schumacher brought no emotion or pathos to his film, with Batman Forever resorting to a more light hearted and comic tone that has never worked for any film featuring the Dark Knight. Val Kilmer and Jim Carrey were actually a perfect choices for our brooding hero and wacky villain, but the film gets bogged down in campy, tensionless action with woefully over the top performances from Nicole Kidman and Tommy Lee Jones further soiling the product.
The film had a few good moments and was a moderate box office success, and while it was far better than the truly horrid Batman & Robin, it really would have benefited from just a little bit of Seal’s soul.
