11 Songs That Were Far Better Than The Movies They Were Made For

8. Don't Call Me Angel - Charlie's Angels

Using sporting parlance, the producers for the new Charlie’s Angels film brought in a dream team of female music talent to collaborate on the soundtrack’s big hit.

The signing of Ariana Grande, Miley Cyrus and indie darling Lana Del Rey to sing Don’t Call Me Angel was a match made in heaven, the hottest and most talented of female artists of the modern era. As expected the song was a big commercial success, with the swooning presence of Del Rey complementing the pop stylings of Miley and Ariana to create a catchy and enjoyable song with a bit more depth than your normal top 40 collaboration.

Sadly, Charlie’s Angels failed before it started with its three leads never likely to get bums on seats. If the singing Angels were the Dreamteam, then the acting Angels were the D Grade reserves. Kristen Stewart appeared to be the main selling point, but Twilight was the only film most people have seen her in, and her acting there was poor to say the least, while fellow angels Ella Balinska and Naomi Scott are still not household names, and for a reason.

Director, Producer, Writer and presumably chief cateror Elizabeth Banks put the final nail in the coffin by blaming male audiences for not seeing a film clearly aimed for teenage girls.

In hindsight, having Miley, Ariana and Lana in the lead roles may have been a better choice for this film, as at least they had chemistry.
