11. Patrick Dempsey
If desire was the chief selling factor in major casting decisions the Grey's Anatomy star would already have been cast as the Sorceror Supreme, because he's already openly courted the role long before any serious decisions were even made on a Strange movie. Back in 2011, and bristling with a desire to turn his TV success into movie success, Dempsey spoke to LA Times' Hero Complex ahead of Transformers: Dark Of The Moon to push himself forward to play Strange in whatever project Marvel intended to unveil the character: Ive been lobbying for that. Theres a whole bunch of people who are into comics and Marvel, too, on the set and theyre like, Doctor Strange, thats the one you should do. It would be fantastic. Itd be a great TV show, especially for HBO or something like that. At this stage, Dempsey's association with Grey's Anatomy might stand too much in the way of his desire, even though rumours have appeared before relating to his casting, but he has at least attempted to show he's not just McDreamy.
