11 Things You Learn Rewatching Dr. No

2. Dr. No Is A Totally Mediocre Villain

Dr. No frequently ranks on the higher end of Bond villain lists, but honestly, is he really all that good, or are fans and critics just looking at him through rose-tinted glasses?

The voice sure is ominous and Joseph Wiseman gives a decent enough performance - yellowface notwithstanding - but he's barely in the film, not showing his mug until the 87-minute mark, and even then, his screen time amounts to scarcely more than 10 whole minutes.

He perhaps typified what many Bond villains have come to be over the years: rich, foreign, intimidatingly-voiced and touting a deformity, but his lack of presence is hugely underwhelming and his final battle with Bond is over all-too-soon.

He's certainly nowhere near the worst Bond baddies - and boy, there are some real stinkers - but aside from being the iconic original Bond villain, he's not aged especially well.
