11 Things You Learn Rewatching Octopussy

2. Bond's Clown Disguise Is A Franchise Low-Point

Nothing in Octopussy is dumber, however, than Bond donning a clown disguise in order to infiltrate the West German US Air Force base.

Given the looming threat of nuclear annihilation, it makes no sense for Bond to spend a significant amount of time undergoing full clown make-up and costume when something a little more slapdash clearly would've sufficed.

Logically it doesn't work, and more than anything it unfortunately typifies the problem many have with the Moore movies: too much clowning around and not enough grit. That's taken to its literal extreme here, and considering how it happens mere minutes before the end of the film, it leaves a horrible lasting impression.
