11 Things You Learn Rewatching Octopussy

11. The Bond Girls Are Intriguing But Underused

Despite being one of the worst Bond films overall, Octopussy does actually boast two intriguing Bond girls, even if both of them are disappointingly under-utilised.

First we have Magda (Kristina Wayborn), who initially appears to be the movie's main Bond girl, though once the title character is introduced, she's basically shoved to the wayside and becomes an afterthought for the rest of the film.

As for Octopussy herself? Maud Adams does fine work as one of the most compelling and unique Bond girls to date: part-criminal, part-spiritualist and part-entrepreneur, she's ruthless, extremely resourceful and commands a cult of women for good measure. What's not to like?

It probably would've made more sense for Octopussy to be the focus for the entire film, because as great as her introduction is, her overall presence is a little lacking considering the movie's named after her and all.
