11 Times James Bond Said F**k You To The Fans

10. No Bond Films Between 1989-1995 (And Losing Dalton In The Process)

Following 1989's controversial Bond flick Licence to Kill, pre-production work began in 1990 on what was to be Timothy Dalton's third contractually-mandated Bond film. However, a legal dispute about the Bond franchise put the kibosh on the movie, which had a script ready and was already seeking directors, and Dalton's contractual obligation to appear in a third movie expired by the end of 1990. Dalton officially resigned from the role in early 1994 as the next Bond film was finally being put together, leading to Pierce Brosnan's casting in Goldeneye, which eventually released in November 1995, a whole six years and five months after the previous film hit cinemas. It was a hugely uneasy time for Bond fans as the producers reportedly considered ending the franchise amid worries that the character just wasn't relevant anymore. Still, the biggest tragedy is that Dalton, easily one of the more underrated Bonds, never got a third film to truly cement himself as one of the quintessential 007s.
