11 Times Movie Studios Stupidly Spoiled Their Own Secrets

10. Spider-Man 3's Novelisation Was Released 5 Weeks Before The Movie, Spoiling Everything

The Secret(s): Pretty much the entire plot: how Spidey (Tobey Maguire) deals with Sandman (Thomas Haden Church), Venom (Topher Grace) and the New Goblin (James Franco), as well as his relationship drama with Mary-Jane (Kirsten Dunst) and Gwen Stacy (Bryce Dallas Howard) How It Was Spoiled: Someone thought it was a great idea for the movie's incredibly accurate novelisation to be released a whole five weeks before the film came out. In addition, as this forum thread shows, some fans were able to acquire it several weeks before that, and so while it was easy enough to simply not read the novelisation, that didn't stop spoilers finding their way online long before the film was released, ready for dissemination by trolls wanting to spoil the surprises for everyone. As it turned out, of course, the movie's biggest surprise lying in wait for fans was that it was a pile of hot garbage.
