Ever since he first appeared in the mid-credits scene of the first Avengers movie, Thanos has been one of the most eagerly anticipated characters in the world of movies. Damion Poitier portrayed the character in that scene, whereby all the Mad Titan did was execute a very creepy smile (having been told that to challenge the heroes of Earth would be to "court death") and, as of the last couple of days, it has been confirmed that Josh Brolin will voice him in both Guardians of the Galaxy and Avengers: Age of Ultron. This news has heightened expectation and excitement about the character (who will be mostly CGI), as the Goonies, No Country For Old Men, American Gangster and Gangster Squad actor is a big name in Hollywood these days. It's a somewhat surprising casting choice, but Brolin certainly has the acting chops to pull it off and with Thanos - in the comic books at least - possessing powers like superhuman strength, speed and durability, telepathy, telekinesis, teleportation, matter transmutation, energy manipulation and a genius intellect (he's basically Apocalypse times a hundred), he will surely turn out to be an epic antagonist in the Marvel Cinematic Universe going forward.
