10. Venom

The Venom character - arguably one of the top five most popular villains in the history of comic books - was brutally butchered by Topher Grace's take on it in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 3. The whiney, skinny, self-obsessed version of the character was akin to the Ultimate version of the character - which is fine in itself - but it didn't even come across as an acceptable version of that version and the fans want a Venom more associated with the classic 616 Marvel timeline. In that vein, audiences want the hulking Eddie Brock who has so often been the scourge of the original Peter Parker, a Venom who can out-muscle the webbed wonder with relative ease and one who can bring some dignity back to the character in live action terms. The character has a confirmed spin-off movie in the Amazing Spider-Man franchise coming in the future, though no date is set for the release. Venom is not expected to join the Sinister Six - who also have a confirmed film with no confirmed release date - in this franchise, leading some to believe that he might actually be more of an anti-hero as opposed to an outright villain. Regardless, such a big and popular character needs a cinematic portrayal that warrants his standing, and audiences can't wait to (hopefully) see that happen this time around.
