11 Upcoming Characters In Marvel Movies We're Most Excited About
9. Gambit
Last month, it was confirmed that Channing Tatum would be taking on the role of Remy LeBeau - Gambit - in the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse movie, which is set for a 2016 release. X-Men producer Lauren Schuler Donner confirmed the news and spoke of her excitement about what Tatum can bring to the role, saying well you know hes a rogue, Channing. Hes a rascal, just like Remy LeBeau, and he can handle the action, we all know that. Hes got a really good heart, because I know him personally, I did a movie with him. So I think hell be great, hell be great for Gambit, and hes a southerner too, hes not from New Orleans but he is a southerner and he understands that world, and you know Gambit loves New Orleans. The news of the casting was generally well-received by fans and Tatum, who has been pushing for the role for some time, will now take over from Taylor Kitsch who somewhat underwhelmingly played the character in X-Men Origins: Wolverine back in 2009. Gambit is a staple character in X-Men history, with a very interesting power to control and manipulate potential energy and kinetic energy, and the fact that he has been underused so far in the X-Men movie franchise has been incredibly disappointing. Bringing a big star like Channing Tatum in to play the character should give him the spotlight. He may be a key hero as he was in the Age of Apocalypse comic book arc, or he could be transformed in to one of Apocalypse's Four Horsemen (which would likely attract the same kind of criticism as Hawkeye's usage in the Avengers movie). Either way, it's about time the character got a big role in an X-Men movie.
