Marvel: 11 Ways The MCU Is Definitely Laughing At You

6. "Parts One And Two"

It was only a matter of time before Marvel went the same way as Harry Potter, Twilight, The Hunger Games and The Hobbit: over-extending films to double-sell under the same banner. Despite their financial successes so far, the prospect of doubling down on the climax of the Thanos arc was clearly too much to resist. The odd point about the MCU however, is that there is literally no need to split Infinity Wars into two parts of the same movie. It is being released into an expanded, unified universe that defies the usual running time restrictions. Marvel could have done what the comics arm of the company did for major events like Civil War and simply have every film in the phase tied into the same Infinity Wars arc. The third Avengers movie could still have been the climax, but having the events play out in multiple dimensions across all of the films would have added unprecedented depth and made the event a real climax.
