4. Troll-Hiring Directors
When Warner Bros and Fox hired ridiculously inappropriate directors the results were Batman & Robin and Daredevil; when Marvel did it, the result was Captain America; The Winter Soldier and Ant-Man (if it actually works as you have to hope it will). It was already pretty brave to cast Ang Lee, Joe Johnston and Kenneth Branagh to direct comic book movies, and then bringing in Shane Black to direct a modern action movie was only trumped by hiring the Russos to direct The Winter Soldier eight years after they made You, Me & Dupree. Regardless of how successful the films were under those directors, each decision was wildly odd, and very few of them should actually have worked. The fact that they did is like Marvel presented a fake lottery ticket and actually won the jackpot with it.
