Three words: 3D bullet time. The Matrix remains to this day one of the most visually spectacular films ever released, and set the bar much higher than anyone else at the end of the 20th century. So why wouldn't we want to see it in 3D? Also, when you think about it, The Matrix feels like one of those movies "made" for 3D, or at least with enough visual cues to feel gimmicky had it been released in 3D originally. Even if you're not a fan of the trend, the idea of seeing bullet time come out at you, seeing Neo stop bullets and sentinels swarm in 3D must make you a little curious. Recent rumours (rather a lot of them) have surfaced about a new Matrix trilogy being in the works, so it feels only logical that they would be brought to us in 3D, and this could be joined by a probably-rather-profitable return to the big screen for the original. As for the existing sequels, well, most Matrix fans aren't Reloaded or Revolutions fans, but if the rumours are true then the first trilogy can't have been too unsuccessful to warrant another Hollywood hat-trick. Again, they are visual marvels, although not nearly as revolutionary as the first, and once more the idea of completing the set comes to mind...
I'm a British filmmaker (or, at least, trying to be) and about to graduate with a Film Studies degree. Most of the time I should spend working is actually on Netflix so I obviously have loads of life experience to share with you lovely people.
