12 Actors Who Must Play Marvel Villains Before 2028

7. Ray Parks/Andy Serkis - Mephisto

It would be foolish to ignore the fact that the devil has appeared four times in failed comic book movies, and the unenviable track record of Constantine, both Ghost Riders and Spawn isn't exactly indication that he should be given another chance, but Mephisto isn't quite the classic horned one (even if the Ghost Rider film - and indeed the comics - replaced Satan with him in the exchange of Johnny Blaze's soul) and he is an enduring enough villain to justify future inclusion in the MCU. Crucially, Mephisto also potentially ties in three major plot-threads, and three separate major characters in Doctor Strange, Thor and Scarlet Witch in a way that lends well to the cohesive narrative threads approach that Marvel have followed so far. The key to making Mephisto work is to hire an actor well-versed in performance capture, or at least predominantly physical performance, which is why both Ray Parks (he who lent his body to Darth Maul) and Andy Serkis (the king of mo cap) both leap to the top of the list. Serkis would have the greater acting credentials, and could perhaps sell the image of Mephisto as a grand tempter, but Parks proved with Maul that he could simply team up with another actor for the vocal side of the performance.
