12 Actors Who Must Play Marvel Villains Before 2028

8 Benedict Cumberbatch - Klaw

Cumberbatch Klaw Seemingly no fantasy casting article would be complete without the obligatory nod towards Britain's most wonderfully named actor. Cumberbatch remains big business after breaking out with his Sherlock and cementing his appeal with a powerful, and surprisingly physical performance as Khan in Star Trek Into Darkness. Rumours suggest he may be lined up for another villainous turn in Disney's new Star Wars trilogy, and the comic book movie universe can't be too far behind, even if some might suggest he would make a more appealing Mr Fantastic than a villain. But in former physicist turned manifested sound wave Klaw, Cumberbatch would find the same sort of dual-appeal that made his Khan work despite the obvious and ominous weight of expectations. Klaw - who would appear in a future Black Panther movie - is both supremely intelligent and hugely threatening, and Cumberbatch has already proved himself capable of both aspects. The prospect of his scheming, and threats to destroy Wakanda for their vibranium deposits would be enough of a strong foundation to turn the Black Panther movie from an exotic alternate project into a genuinely brilliant possibility, particularly if they cast the Panther himself correctly. Who It Definitely Shouldn't Be: Jim Parsons. He might famously play a physicist, but it's unlikely Sheldon would pack the necessary punch.
