12 Actors Who Admitted Doing A Movie Purely For The Money
6. Jackie Chan - Inspector Lee (The Rush Hour Movies)
Jackie Chan has never hidden his feelings about his American work; he claims to do them solely because they pay well, which is money he can then use to finance movies in China that hes actually passionate about. So if anyone wondered how The Tuxedo or The Spy Next Door happened, now they have an answer. It's not just those bemoaned duds though. He only did the first Rush Hour to test his appeal with an American audience plus he got paid handsomely and didn't really get it at all. He didnt understand the humour, he thought the action was weak and he just didnt really care about it. He was stunned it was such a success, though he only came back for the sequel because he was offered an irresistible amount of money for it. Rush Hour 3 was the same story, where he hyped it up by saying Nothing particularly exciting stood out that made this movie special for me, which is a line that could have come from any negative review for the film itself. There's still talk of Rush Hour 4 at some point, so Hollywood better have its chequebook ready.
