12 Actors Who Almost Walked Off Huge Movies (And Why)
6. Daisy Ridley Felt The Pressure - Star Wars: The Force Awakens
When casting calls began for The Force Awakens, rumours were rampant as to who J.J Abrams would pick for the leading roles of the film. Some of the biggest names in the industry were thrown around, but it was believed that Abrams was looking to follow in George Lucas’ footsteps and pick three lesser known actors to play the leads.
These rumours would turn out to be true as Daisy Ridley emerged as Abrams' choice to play the role of Rey, John Boyega to play Finn, and Adam Driver to play Kylo Ren.
Some would expect that making the leap from smaller budget films to the leading role in one of the biggest film franchises of all time would be a daunting experience for anyone. But in Daisy’s case, it almost proved to be too much for her.
She suffered a panic attack while filming in the Rub’ Al Khali Desert, and after Abrams gave her a note describing her acting as wooden, she was considering stepping down from the role. Luckily, she was able to overcome her early fears and was able to continue working on the film.
