12 Actors Who Did Career Worst Work In 2017
3. Vincent D'Onofrio (Rings)
Vincent D'Onofrio is the King of giving slumming, hammy supporting appearances in terrible movies, and he just might've hit the bottom of the well (sorry) with his extended cameo in this feckless attempt to reboot The Ring franchise.
In a year where D'Onofrio also shed his dignity by appearing in the horrendous CHiPS, he somehow went one worse by playing Rings' secret villain, a blind man named Galen Burke, who initially provides Matilda Lutz's protagonist with a useful exposition dump, but is ultimately revealed to be Samara's evil father.
With his bizarre vocal cadence, D'Onofrio's clearly trying to be weird and menacing, but it comes off more comical than anything. The fact he's wearing shaded glasses for almost the entirety of his performance, being blind and all, almost makes it seem like he's embarrassed to show his face in something so obviously terrible.
If this is the worst thing D'Onofrio ever does, that wouldn't surprise anyone. Then again, he's set to appear in Eli Roth's upcoming Death Wish remake as Bruce Willis' brother, so who knows?
