10. Bruce Greenwood - Endless Love
The Movie: A sappy, pointless remake of Franco Zeffirelli's 1981 romantic drama that nobody much cared for at the time, let alone now. If not quite as terrible as the glut of Nicholas Sparks adaptations clogging up cinematic arteries these days, it's still emotionally manipulative, unintentionally hilarious garbage. The Performance: There's one role in the movie that really works, though, and that's Bruce Greenwood's part as Hugh Butterfield, Jade's (Gabriella Wilde) over-protective father who, of course, sees Jade's directionless love interest David (Alex Pettyfer) as a distraction to be quietly sent on his way. Greenwood plays the hateful douchebag father with an entertaining relish, transforming a potentially cliched character into the movie's most well-wrought element. While the movie forces his character's turn-around from controlling a**hat to good guy a little too quickly, Greenwood does his absolute best with it, and basically makes it work.
