12 Awesome Movie Trailers That Gave Away Nothing

6. Alan Partridge

Alan Partridge in a siege at a radio station is literally all you need to hear about Alpha Papa to be hooked. You can just imagine the situations he'll end up in. Subsequent trailers would show some of the jokes (although, thanks to the spot on writing, they didn't become unfunny when finally seeing them in the film), but the first one managed to promote it without showing a single frame from the film itself. There is a brief summary of the plot, but that's quickly got out of the way to allow for a minute of comedy brilliance as Coogan, in character as Alan, argues about his ideal titles for the film. Turning the most basic aspect of the film into a selling point, it understands Partridge's appeal and doesn't try and overload him with addedgimmicks. Everything's shot like it's from an action film, with fast cuts, dim lighting and panning shots, getting across this will be more than just a feature length episode of I'm Alan Partridge. Maybe the whole reason it was called Alpha Papa, rather than The Alan Partridge Movie, was just so we could get this awesome trailer. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1kzHMIKoiME
