11. Finding Dory

When Pixar first announced that a belated Finding Nemo sequel was on the way, there was a lot of worry from fans that it would fail to live up to the original, especially with Pixar's fairly inconsistent track record where follow-ups are concerned.

Thankfully Finding Dory ended up being a highly entertaining animated adventure, if not quite as excellent as the original, though with its billion-dollar box office gross, murmurs have abounded that Pixar might be courting a threequel sometime down the line.

They got lucky with one great sequel, but another? Sure, they did it with Toy Story 3, but that's the exception that proves the rule.

How Likely Is It?: Following Finding Dory's release, director Andrew Stanton said of a possible threequel, "I think everything that was born of the first movie is wrapped up. But we'll see."

While fans probably shouldn't expect a sequel any time soon, it wouldn't be surprising at all if a third film was announced sometime in the next decade. As Pixar's pushing ahead with Toy Story 4 in spite of plenty of fan hand-wringing, why wouldn't they milk this franchise for another billion bucks? 6/10
