4. Gladiator 2
The ending of Ridley Scott's Gladiator doesn't exactly leave it open for a sequel, but that didn't stop Austrian rocker Nick Cave from writing one. Not that it was some fan fiction or anything, Russell Crow and Ridley Scott requested it. For some reason they believed the Bad Seeds front man would be able to find a unique and creative way around the fact that the films man character dies in the end, and Mr. Cave did not disappoint. Gladiator 2 would have told the story of Maximus' life after death. A life where he would do battle with the gods themselves before. Eventually he is resurrected to fight alongside early Christians. At some point hed reunite with his son and gain the gift of immortally. Maximus would go on to lead a heard of tanks in the Second World War and finally settle down in modern day with a cushy job at the Pentagon. Now I know what youre thinking, This movie sounds amazing! And youre not alone, because Russell Crow himself loved the story, and Ridley Scott liked it alright, but those pesky studio heads couldn't wrap their minds around it and like Maximus himself Gladiator 2 was dead.
