12 Awesome Summer 2018 Movies You Probably Missed

11. Set It Up

The streaming giant also served up a surprisingly entertaining romantic comedy over the summer, with the thoroughly charming Set It Up.

Like Cargo, the premise doesn't sound particularly unique - two downtrodden assistants try to romantically entangle their hard-a** bosses - but thanks to a quartet of charming performances, a witty script and sharp cinematography, this is perhaps Netflix's big surprise this year so far.

The trailer doesn't sell it as much more than another generic, forgettable straight-to-streaming rom-com, but Glenn Powell and Zooey Deutch's effortless chemistry is brilliantly juxtaposed opposite the tenacious personalities of their bosses, played by Taye Diggs and Lucy Liu respectively.

Even though the plot goes in the expected direction, the screenplay is rife with cute nods to how stale the genre has become, and does a shockingly great job of playing with rom-com tropes.

A perfect movie for when you don't want to watch something mentally demanding, but you also don't want something insulting to your intelligence either.
