12 Awesome Summer 2018 Movies You Probably Missed

7. The Endless

Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead, directors of cult 2014 body-horror flick Spring, return with their ambitious follow-up, a sci-fi horror film about two brothers (Benson and Moorhead) who find themselves lured back to the UFO death cult they escaped from a decade prior.

Wonderfully understated and making the most of its evidently low budget, The Endless' character-driven approach builds on scene after scene of increasing suspense, ensuring those few visual effects beats are all the more jolting as a result.

As a hypnotic mystery that provides answers while also leaving plenty up in the air, this is art-house genre fare done right, boasting smart ideas, fleshed-out characters and gorgeous visuals in the bargain.
