12 Awesome Villains In Otherwise Terrible Movies

1. General M. Bison - Street Fighter

Bison Raul Julia
Columbia Pictures

As video game movies go, Street Fighter isn't the worst, but that genre has such a comically low benchmark that it's not really fair to judge it in those terms alone. By traditional action movie standards, it's a sloppy, silly mess that - fatally - doesn't seem to understand the majority of its main characters.

If it weren't for the fact that they kept using the names of the game characters, only Sagat, Zangief and M Bison would be recognised from their pixelated counterparts. And in Raul Julia's operatic villain, the film has one absolute diamond in the rough.

He's bombastic, hilarious and almost classical in his villainy - a baddy hewn from the same ore as Bond's finest and predating comic book villains by years. And it's stunning to think that Julia was gravely ill at the time of filming and died before its release.
