9. Sabretooth – X-Men Origins: Wolverine

Even in a movie franchise that has struggled at various turns and overcome some pretty notable down-points, X-Men Origins: Wolverine was an absolute dumpster fire. It takes what should be an excellent idea - and something most other comic book movies have pulled off easily in origins - and fudges it so badly that it's barely logical.

The low-lights are well-documented - and particular focus inevitably tends to fall on the mishandling of Deadpool - but in amongst the poor direction and poorer writing is a stand-out performance by Liev Schreiber as Victor Creed. In contrast to the slobbering animal of the mainline X-Men movies, his Sabretooth is a simmering ball of rage, torn apart by sibling rivalry and jealousy and by his ambitions to be even more monstrous.

He was so good that fans genuinely wanted him to return for Logan.
