12 Awful 2015 Horror Movies To Avoid This Halloween

11. The Green Inferno

Eli Roth's long-delayed homage to Cannibal Holocaust played film festivals over two years ago and finally arrived on VOD recently...but it totally wasn't worth the wait. Yes, there's some impressive gore effects on display, but the low-budget project suffers from amateur production values, some dubious performances, and like many of Roth's films, it takes far, far too long for anything to actually happen. Sure, there's some unexpected satire on display (regarding wealthy white people going to "help" impoverished, indigenous tribesfolk), but it's hard to root for the characters to survive when most of them are so annoying. Also, Roth ill-advisedly employs a fair amount of CGI which, given the micro budget, was a pretty terrible idea, because it's hilariously unconvincing. It certainly has its moments, but The Green Inferno is for the most part a crushing disappointment. Best to stick with the original Cannibal Holocaust instead.
