12 Awful 2015 Horror Movies To Avoid This Halloween

12. The Woman In Black 2: Angel of Death

Expectations weren't exactly high for this Daniel Radcliffe-less cash-in sequel, yet The Woman in Black 2's worst crime isn't the absence of the previous film's cast, but rather the fact that it's just so moldy and tedious. Screenwriter Jon Croker trots out genre cliches like his life depends on it, and the abundance of jump scares is particularly infuriating, apparently a substitute for a compelling narrative and memorable characters. The film is poorly shot with dull cinematography, the only actor even remotely trying is Helen McRory (who nevertheless isn't in the movie enough), and overall there's a feeling that this project just doesn't belong in a cinema. That it made $38.2 million at the box office (against a $1 million budget) is staggering considering it's a glorified straight-to-VOD movie. If you decide to watch it this Halloween, you risk falling asleep before the trick or treaters even start knocking on your door. It's a sequel that commits the cardinal sin of not only being wildly unnecessary but also agonisingly boring.
