12 AWFUL Sequels That Made More Money Than Blade Runner 2049

1. All These Resident Evil Sequels

Resident Evil: Afterlife
Screen Gems

Box Office: Retribution ($240 million), Afterlife ($300.2 million) and The Final Chapter ($312.3 million)

The latter three of the six Resident Evil movies all turned in tidy profits against their sensibly modest $40-65 million budgets, despite being absolutely terrible both as straight-up action movies, "horror" films and adaptations of the beloved video game series.

Paul W.S. Anderson directed these films so close to the line of self-parody it's hard to accept they actually take themselves relatively seriously, but each squanders Milla Jovovich's game performance on atrocious CGI effects, monotonous action and disrespectfully half-a**ed nods to the games.

In the case of the series' highest-grossing film, this year's The "Final" Chapter, China is once again to thank, being responsible for more than half the film's overall box office take ($160 million), which is absolutely insane.

Meanwhile, Blade Runner 2049 has made just $7.5 million in China so far and won't do much more. Gee, thanks. Why can't they bail out a film that actually deserves it?

Which movies most egregiously destroyed Blade Runner 2049 at the box office? Shout it out in the comments!
