12 AWFUL Sequels That Made More Money Than Blade Runner 2049

11. Fantastic Four: Rise Of The Silver Surfer

Box Office: $289 million

2007's Fantastic Four sequel was an undeniable box office disappointment, failing to even match the original film's $330.6 million total and only barely doubling its $130 million budget. That it still beat Blade Runner 2049 despite being largely panned is incredibly depressing.

Though the Silver Surfer is a fun addition to the mix, the action is forgettable, the humour is unbearably goofy, and worst of all, Fox committed the cardinal sin of turning legendary supervillain Galactus into...a cloud.

The general unenthusiastic response to the film effectively killed the franchise, and led to the arguably even worse 2015 Josh Trank-directed reboot, which at least only grossed $168 million.
