12 AWFUL Sequels That Made More Money Than Blade Runner 2049

10. A Good Day To Die Hard

Bruce Willis A Good Day to Die Hard
20th Century Fox

Box Office: $304.7 million

The fifth Die Hard movie is, simply, an embarrassment for the revered action franchise, and especially for Bruce Willis, who basically seems irritated that someone woke him up to go shoot this movie.

John Moore's mediocre direction combines with a script that reads like it was hashed out over a weekend coke binge, not to mention the unsavoury presence of Jai Courtney as John McClane Jr., to make this a woefully boring sequel not remotely worthy of its predecessors.

Despite scoring just 14% on Rotten Tomatoes, it still more-than-tripled its $92 million budget, effectively ensuring a sixth movie will eventually happen. All while Denis Villeneuve and co. are over here making critically-lauded art that's struggling to break even.
