12 AWFUL Sequels That Made More Money Than Blade Runner 2049

9. The Hangover Part III

The Hangover Part III
Warner Bros.

Box Office: $362 million

Though it was by far the lowest-grossing of the three Hangover movies, the series' finale more-than-tripled its $103 million budget, despite being nothing more a wildly unnecessary retread of the last two movies.

If The Hangover Part II began to steer the series closer to becoming a dark action comedy, Part III was a full expression of that, to the point that what made the franchise popular in the first place was mostly pushed to the wayside.

The cast are largely phoning it in for an easy payday here, and what was once jaw-droppingly outrageous ultimately felt disappointingly routine by the end of number three.

Simply, though, can you even remember much about this film, apart from the giraffe getting decapitated, of course?
