12 Most Badass Monologues In Movie History

2. Quint: Jaws

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u9S41Kplsbs Quite simply because it's a badass speech by a badass character! Never did one movie monologue truly define the danger and horror that awaits our heroes than this one. Robert Shaw is brilliant as the embittered shark-hunter Quint; this monologue serves to demonstrate the horror that drove him down his shark-hunting profession and reminds us, the audience, how dangerous sharks can be. It's both fitting and tragic that Quint ends his role in the film as shark bait! There are many reasons to love this little monologue: The ominous setting; our three heroes out on a boat, seemingly safe within the hull and yet journeying to face the killer shark itself. The look on the Brody and Vaughan's faces, the forbidding tone of Quint's delivery; half light-hearted at first, almost defensive and then turning deadly serious as recounts the horror that ensued, or the final matter-of-fact delivery of his final line. Or is it just because we can visualise every terrifying moment that faced the doomed crew of the USS Indianapolis?
