12 Bafflingly High 2018 IMDB Scores You Will Not Believe

10. Mortal Engines (6.4)

Mortal Engines
Universal

Mortal Engines certainly isn't anywhere near as bad as Mile 22 or Death Wish, but it's also a fundamentally miscalculated misfire that basically just feels like an uninspired collision of numerous better fantasy movies.

Visually enticing yet flatly acted, rife with dull expository dialogue and offering up the most laughably predictable plot twist of the year, Mortal Engines is a failure that's at once wildly ambitious and not ambitious enough.

But general audiences tend to be more forgiving of cliches and more easily bowled over by an impressive production than critics, and so, it scooped a moderately respectable 6.4 regardless.

The Score It Deserves: Mortal Engines is not a terrible movie, just a painfully mediocre one. 5.0 places it squarely in the middle, which is a much better fit.
