12 Best 1990s Sci-Fi Movies

3. Jurassic Park

FIfth Element
Universal Pictures

Jurassic Park became the highest-grossing movie in history when it was released in 1993, and anybody that's ever seen it can fully understand why.

All the pieces seemed to fit together in perfect sync, with the end result being one of the greatest blockbuster movies that will ever come out of Hollywood. It's almost as if Steven Spielberg viewed the movie as the bastard child of Jaws on steroids married to modern filmmaking techniques, taking the shock-and-awe action, unbearable tension and jump scares of his breakout feature and dialing them up way past ten, with many of the signature moments instantly attaining iconic status.

Spielberg is operating at the top of his game as the master of popcorn cinema, backed by jaw-dropping animatronics, groundbreaking visual effects and a script packed top-to-bottom with adrenaline-pumping action sequences and a cast of instantly quotable and unforgettable characters.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
