6. Superman Returns (Teaser #1)

The Marlon Brando voiceover. That booming John Williams score. Yes, it could only mean one thing: after two decades, Superman had indeed returned.

After numerous failed attempts at bringing the Man of Steel back to the big-screen, it was Bryan Singer's effort that made it all the way, and fans were totally sold on the idea thanks to this first teaser trailer. It doesn't give much away in terms of the plot, but it sets things up as a 'proper' Superman outing, from the shot of the Daily Planet to him soaring through the sky as Williams' score soars with him.

The end product may not have worked out all that well, resulting in something that didn't really offer anything new, and instead tried too hard to be like the original Chris Reeve films. The excitement for the film may have died down upon its release, but it's worth remembering just how good a job this did of building it up in the first place.
