What would you do if you awoke from a coma to find that the world had all but ended? Danny Boyle directed this zombie-esque thriller in which Jim (played by Cillian Murphy) has to figure out an answer to this question, and fast. Jim rises to find London nearly entirely devoid of healthy humans and it doesn'€™t take long for the unhealthy to discover him.

The story follows the same paths as many post-apocalyptic stories do: a survivor finds a group, stays on the move, and does whatever he or she or they must do to stay alive. This particular version of that tale is elevated by Boyle€™'s intimate direction which juxtaposes the bleak stillness of the city with up-close and personal shots of the hyperactive infected.

Pair this with phenomenal acting and a brilliant score by John Murphy and you end up with one of the best zombie (€œrage-virus€) movies of all time.
