Killer Klowns From Outer Space is a cheesy, campy cult classic about exactly what the movie title is - killer clowns from outer space.
This film is written and directed by the Chiodos Brothers, while you may not recognize the name, you've more than likely seen their work. They've created multiple claymation segments for The Simpsons as well as created puppets for multiple movies like Critters and Team America: World Police. Killer Klowns From Outer Space is the brother's only film, but they knocked it out of the park with this one.
This film is not good in the traditional sense. The story is off the wall wacky, with klowns invading a small town and eating the residents. They use cotton candy guns to trap people in cotton candy cocoons, have balloon animal dogs do their bidding and use shadow puppets to terrorize the town. This is a B-movie, but boy is it an enjoyable one. You will have fun watching this movie, and the theme song may end up stuck in your head for all eternity.
The effects are kooky, the plot is insane and the acting is subpar but Killer Klowns From Outer Space has solidified itself as a cult classic for a reason.
