12 Biggest Genuine Shocks In MCU History

3. The TVA's Infinity Paperweights

After Phase Three closed out the Infinity Saga, with Thanos being dusted away and the Infinity Stones being removed from the main MCU continuity, it was always obvious that the main narrative would shift. This of course, would be to the Multiverse Saga.

During the first year or so of Phase Four, this title went unconfirmed, but it was never in doubt that the Infinity Stones were in the rearview mirror. If there was even a hint, it was eradicated by the first episode of Loki as the God of Mischief explored the TVA.

The Time Variance Authority was unlike anything else seen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and Loki was potentially right in describing it as the greatest power in the universe. But what exactly had led him to such a conclusion after so much skepticism? How about a draw full of useless and inert Infinity Stones?

Since Loki’s recent years had been heavily involved with the Infinity Stones, in particular the Space and Mind Stones, not to mention the fact that he had just used one to escape SHIELD and incur the wrath of the TVA in the first place, this revelation was mind-blowing. The Infinity Stones were supposed to be an unrivalled in power in the universe, and yet here TVA workers were using them as paperweights.
