If Robert Rodriguez wanted to make sure Machete Kills was more ridiculous than the surprisingly grounded original, he managed that within the first three minutes. The movie begins with a fake trailer for the prospective third film, Machete Kills Again...In Space, which features everything from the original Machete trailer...but in space. The hilarity comes as the trailer voice-over guy announces that Justin Bieber will play the robot, Blink, who Machete subsequently shoots in the face, and Machete having a light-saber-machete fight with "The Man in the Silver Mask", who will apparently be played by Leonardo DiCaprio (before the disclaimer "actor subject to change" appears). It's the funniest part of a film that quickly goes downhill, so I sincerely hope the third film does indulge this ridiculous sci-fi plot, with a returning Mel Gibson, of course.
