Another entry that could have gone lower on the list, but then this won't be a total WTF to those acquainted with the source material. Still, the audience for most Marvel films consists largely of casual viewers, and so they likely had no idea what was going on during the now-expected mid-credit sequence of Thor: The Dark World. The scene has Thor's buddies Volstagg and Sif giving the film's weapon, the Aether, to The Collector (Benicio Del Toro), who then proclaims, "One down, five to go", a hint at his villainous role in the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy. It's not merely the fact that it makes very little sense to the uninitiated, but how much the scene jars tonally with Thor 2, what with its loud colour palette and the frankly ridiculous make-up Del Toro is kitted out in. Even director Alan Taylor himself has said that he wasn't so keen on the scene being inserted.
