5. John Cusack As Richard Nixon - Lee Daniels' The Butler
I for one was pleasantly surprised to see that Lee Daniels' The Butler didn't receive a single Oscar nomination (especially for Oprah Winfrey), and one of the weirdest things about the film was the strange casting choices made, the strangest of which was having John Cusack playing a very un-Nixon-like Richard Nixon. That's right, the baby-faced star of classic movies such as Say Anything and Grosse Point Blank playing the middle-aged Nixon with a minimum amount of make-up to even make the conceit a little more convincing. It's a distracting casting choice for every second Cusack is on screen (which frankly isn't very long), and hammers another nail in the coffin of an already painfully Oscar-baiting film.
Stay at home dad who spends as much time teaching his kids the merits of Martin Scorsese as possible (against the missus' wishes).
