10. Glass' Companions - The Revenant

Having already scored one of the hits of the year with Birdman - sure to get some sort of Oscar recognition, even if it's just in nomination - Alejandro González Inarritu returns at the end of the year with another Western revival movie, reuniting Inception co-stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hardy, as well as Will Poulter and Domhnall Gleeson. The intriguing story is based on the life of Hugh Glass, an improbable hero who somehow managed to survive a viscious bear attack only to be abandoned and robbed by his companions who leave him for dead, thinking it won't be far off. Horribly mauled, Glass (DiCaprio) sets about getting his revenge on his former allies, and while the true story actually saw all of his targets spared, it seems unlikely that Inarritu will make a vengeance western with no body count. It would be far more appealing to see the battered and bloodied DiCaprio in the reverse of his Django role, the lone wounded wolf taking his pain out on those who betrayed him, and that can only spell bad news for Hardy, Poulter and Gleeson's characters.
