12 Comic Book Movie Moments That Ignored The Script

4. Ben Affleck’s Foul-Mouthed Batman

Back in the halcyon days of the 1960s when Adam West was playing Batman on the small screen, the most profane language viewers came across was a clunk here, a kerplop there and maybe a ‘holy heart failure’ or two from sidekick Robin. But this is the gritty 21st century and if Batman wants to use a choice four-letter word to vent his frustrations then he will and that’s exactly what Ben Affleck, the latest in a long line of caped crusaders, did in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice – and it was completely improvised.

In the film’s fight scene when Batman comes face to face with the monstrous Doomsday and realises he is truly outmatched by the beast, Affleck though that an unscripted ‘oh sh*t’ would make the scene a whole lot better.

Purists might be shocked by the superhero’s new foul-mouthed turn of phrase being unleashed upon the virgin ears of impressionable younger viewers, but Affleck has defended his cussing stating it makes his Batman more human and realistic.
