12 Controversial Horror Movies That Shocked The World
2. Cannibal Holocaust
If you need some buzz for your upcoming movie, just get charged with murder days before its release. That's precisely what happened with Ruggero Deodato just before his groundbreaking film, Cannibal Holocaust, was released. Not only was the film one of the first to pioneer the 'found footage' shtick, it garnered waves of notoriety for it's horrific content and graphic depictions cruelty to animals and humans. The premise involves a rescue team travelling to the Amazon in order to find out what happened to a missing documentary team. What transpires is a gut-wrenching depiction of shocking brutality, gory murders, rape, impalements, beheadings, and of course, cannibalism. But what pushes this film into truly unsettling territory is that the filmmakers actually killed animals in real-life and the footage is shown in the film. Despite limiting the killings to animals, the actors' murders in the film were so realistic that Deodato was arrested and he had to prove his innocence by bringing along all the 'murdered' actors to an Italian TV show and demonstrate how they achieved some of the special effects in the film.
My life story is nothing special. I haven't cured ebola, I'm nowhere near stopping terrorism, and I'm still working on that climate change problem.
Instead, all I've done so far is put a few hundred words together in an attempt to make people laugh.
