12 Controversial Horror Movies That Shocked The World

1. A Serbian Film

Oh boy, where to begin with A Serbian Film. If there was ever a film that redefines the meaning of art and pushes the word into unsettling territory, then A Serbian Film is certainly it. Probably the most shocking and controversial horror film in recent memory, the film begins with a simple premise of a struggling porn star who gets coaxed into doing an 'art' film. However, this 'art' film turns out to be something much more sinister than what the actor expected. And by art, we mean incredibly disturbing acts of murder, rape, necrophilia, horrifying stuff involving eyes, and a touch of child abuse for good measure. The film has absolutely no boundaries and the amount of shocking content makes you wonder if the film was made purely to court controversy. Needless to say, Netflix absolutely refused to carry the film and numerous countries banned it without any second thought. The director tried to wave all the controversy off by saying his film is a parody of all the modern politically correct films made in Serbia and a response to government oppression. Yeah, good luck trying to sell that excuse to everyone. Which other controversial horror movies deserve to be on this list? Share your favourites below in the comments thread.

My life story is nothing special. I haven't cured ebola, I'm nowhere near stopping terrorism, and I'm still working on that climate change problem. Instead, all I've done so far is put a few hundred words together in an attempt to make people laugh. You can follow me at @Fry_ying_pan but don't be offended if I don't tweet back. It's usually because I've spent too long trying to think up a witty response that the reply window has closed.
