4. In God's Hands
The Premise: A couple (Maggie Gyllenhaal and Peter Sarsgard) struggle to cope with the loss of their child. Why It Never Got Released: A wrenching premise, for sure, but not particularly controversial, right? The controversy surrounding this movie stems from the fact that director Lodge Kerrigan completely finished shooting the movie, but the single negative print of the movie was irreparably damage in the photo lab, causing the entire movie to be scrapped. Though speculation has persisted online that the movie simply may not have been any good, it did seem to work out for Kerrigan in the end. Insurance covered all the financial losses, producer Steven Soderbergh agreed to help bankroll his next project, and his next project, Keane, was a significant critical success.
